Clinic & Appointments at Eyecare Opticians Malta – FAQs

Do I Need an Appointment, or Can I Walk In?
Appointments are recommended to ensure availability and to minimise your waiting time. However, walk-ins are always welcome if we have open slots. To guarantee a time that suits you, we recommend booking in advance, especially for full eye examinations. You can book online or simply call our Sliema clinic and our team will arrange a convenient appointment.
How Do I Book an Appointment Online?
Booking is easy. Visit eyecaremalta.com and click "Book Now" to access our online booking system, or go directly to our Calendly page. You can choose from available time slots and receive a confirmation by email. If you have any specific requirements or questions before your visit, feel free to contact us by phone or email and we'll be happy to help.
What Languages Do Your Staff Speak?
We are a proudly multilingual team at Eyecare Malta. Our staff speak English, Maltese, Arabic, French, Portuguese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Spanish. Whether you are a local resident or visiting Malta, you can be confident that we will communicate with you comfortably in your preferred language. This is especially important when discussing prescriptions, eye health concerns, and product recommendations.
Is Parking Available Near the Shop?
Yes! We offer 1-hour free parking at the CCCP Sliema Multi-Storey Car Park when you visit us. Simply ask our team for a parking validation stamp on arrival. Our clinic is conveniently located in Sliema and is also accessible by public transport. We want your visit to Eyecare Malta to be as smooth and stress-free as possible.
What Should I Bring to My Eye Test Appointment?
Please bring your current glasses or contact lenses if you have them, along with any previous prescription paperwork if available. If you are a first-time patient, we will take a short medical history before the examination. If your eyes are going to be dilated during the test (not always required), we recommend arranging a lift home or bringing sunglasses, as your vision may be temporarily blurred afterwards.
How Often Should I Visit the Optician?
We recommend visiting Eyecare Opticians at least once every 1 to 2 years for a routine eye examination, even if you don't wear glasses. Certain conditions, such as glaucoma or macular degeneration, can develop without obvious symptoms, and early detection makes a significant difference to outcomes. Children, older adults, and people with diabetes or high blood pressure should have more frequent check-ups — ask our optometrists for personalised advice.
Do You See Children at Eyecare Malta?
Yes, we welcome patients of all ages, including young children from around age 3. Early eye tests are important to detect and treat conditions like amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus (squint) before they affect a child's development. Our optometrists are experienced in conducting child-friendly eye examinations, making the visit a comfortable and positive experience for little ones.
Can I Get an Emergency Eye Appointment?
If you are experiencing sudden changes in vision, eye pain, flashes, floaters, or any other urgent eye symptoms, please contact us immediately. We will do our best to see you on the same day or refer you to the appropriate emergency services. Do not ignore sudden or severe changes in your vision — prompt attention can protect your sight.
